:drive:

Bought a 924S, good overall condition, runs great, needs an alignment and shocks, but it's mechanically sound. Needs some minor cosmetic tweaking, but a good deal was had.

The car is not a barn burner, with 150hp but it handles nice, and I have the Z for burning rubber. Anyhow, pretty excited about the purchase so I wanted to brag on it a bit. Cheers all.

There better be an ls1-6 waiting to be dropped in there. :judge:

It's not his, but it's a 924S just to give people an idea.

Congrats on becoming a Porsche-phile. Although I don't like the 924 body style, at least the S has the base 944 motor. Ever since the 944 came out I always felt the 924 was missing those fender flares. You should drop a turbo in it and build your own 924 turbo!

^ I feel the exact same way: with the 944, I just can't get myself into the 924's.

But hey, awesome purchase and have some fun with it! If it were mine, I'd tweak the suspension/chassis, give it a little more power and make it an auto-x terror.

Good luck with it,I hope it is mechanically sound.A while back I was toying with the idea of a cheap 1983 928 that needed work. After pricing out the needed parts that cheap Porsche was looking very expensive.

Yeah it's in good shape mechanically and only needs some minor cosmetics(front valance, hood chips).

The motor/tranny/clutch are all strong. It needs an alignment, new shocks, and a few other minor things, but it's a nice running car as is. I'm going to do the shocks and alignment right off, and slowly take care of the other issues.

I got the car as a fun driver/weekend car. If I could afford a 951 I'd go that route, but then I'd be split on making that a turbo beast or modding the LS1. This 924S will tide me over for the time being, and it will be fun having a 5speed, something I miss in the Camaro.

keep an eye on your timing belt and your coolant. motors are pretty good but when the y break be ready to pony up

i know for a fact you will have a ton of fun in your 924. i owned a 1984 944 with the 2.5 4cyl. only 150 hp but could handle better than almost any car on the road. i would suggest buying fully adjustable koni shocks. and putting a nice thick strut tower brace on there and you will notice a huge difference in handling. nice car.

i was always a fan of the uglier 928 body. Old porsches are cool.

I remember riding around in a silver 928 as a kid. It was my friend's dad's daily driver. Looked exactly like the one from Scarface.

Hey the 928's were awesome cars: can't beat a V8 Porsche. :)

Too bad they couldn't stuff that TT V8 from the Cayanne into a NEW 928.

So what's the difference between a 924 and a 944? They look similar to me.

the fenders dont have any flares like the real agressive 944 flares. and 944 came with different front air dams on the turbo models. my 1984 was a non turbo but it had a full turbo bodykit on it. it was real clean, i miss it. plus the 924 never came with a turbo option whereas in 1986 they started making the 944 turbo (951) with the 2.5L 4cyl that made aroung 220 hp.
