Default Cutout

Hey guys, I just kinda decided last night that I wanna put a cutout on my car on Tuesday (its my day off). Do you think an exhaust shop would have a cutout I could buy? Or at least do you think Thunder Racing might overnight me one? Thanks

Just call the shop you would like to go to and see if they have any or they can probably fab up one for you.

Yes, every muffler shop should have one. Don't ask for an exhaust cutout though. They won't carry any brand name cutout's. It's just an exhaust flange that they make a cap for. As far as I know all muffler shops should carry an exhaust flange.

So when they are done will it look the same as a cutout? What should I ask them- can they make a cutout?

I would recommend putting it back by the muffler, where the pipe comes over the axle, if at all possible. With it dumping under the rear seat, it creates lots of rattles, and really drones on the interior.

Ask them if they can make a cutout out of an exhaust manifold. If had my cutout in the I-pipe just before it goes over the axle, and after the axle just before the muffler. After having doing it both ways, I would recommend putting it just before the muffler. You will have less interior resonance and there won't be a noticeable hp difference vs. putting it just before the axle.

I just got my cutout put on and I LOVE the sound of it. There is only one thing that I dont like, its not loud enough for me!! But this is probably due to the fact that I'm only 18 and I want my car to be the loudest most obnoxious thing ever. Next set is getting rid of cats. This is all just temporary til I get my longtubes and true duals.

Glad you like your cutout. An offroad pipe and cutout should be plenty obnoxious for you.

Is it normal to lose a little low end torque with the cutout open? It just kinda feels that way to me, and I'm pretty sure its not my imagination, but I haven't capped it back up yet to compare.

Feels the same way in my car without a muffler. But the top end pulls even harder, and it doesn't let up until 120mph.
