Default 98 model Monsoon / CD player problems

I have a 98 Z-28 camaro and a 98 monte carlo Z-34 both with the monsoon CD players. Recently they started throwing an error every time I put in a CD and would spit it back out. WTF?!! Was there a recall on these or are they just junk? I like the factory stereo system in both cars but this is getting annoying.

sometimes they do. Have you tried a lens cleaner on it. Does it do it with an orginal cd or burned cd?

I've tried a cleaning CD and it still does it with either a store bought CD or a burned CD, I even went and bought a new metallica CD just to see if it was scratch sensitive but it still does it. The dealership said it would run almost 500 bucks to fix it, guess I'll go aftermarket even though I like the factory look and performance. Maybe it's just old and worn out?

my trick was i turned the car off and turned it back on and it always fixed the problem for me i dunno why it did this but 1 day it was really acting up after i restarted my car and cleaned the cd off it was fine and make sure if its a burned cd its burned correctly and isnt an mp3 disk but an audio formatted disk..
