Is a restall worth it? 5300 to 4???
Ok i've been thinking and i wanna try to get my converter restalled lower. Right now its at about 5300. I bought this converter while i was putting my car together for "cam only" but i ran over budget and decided to throw a stock cam in it.
So far i've run a best of 7.05 @ 96 with a 1.51 60 ft. (hopefully going to 1/4 this friday if those bastards don't cancel it again ) Anyways the car pulls the wheels about 6"-9" but then kinda noses over when coming out of the hole. I'm assuming this is cause its a stock cam and a 5300 stall. I mean a stock cam peaks (torque) at 4400, see the problem.
A restall is about $150 but my car will be down for at least 1.5-2 weeks. I would just order a second converter so my car wouldn't be down at all but i'm payin for my wedding and that kind of kills the race car budget.
I was just going to keep this stall and wait till i threw a cam in it but
1. i wanna see how fast i can go on the stock cam
2. i'll probably not get a cam till late next year
3. since i'm still driving 90 miles a day (moving closer to work after i get hitched) a cam would really hurt the MPG
SO.. you think a restall to 4400 would be worth it? would it JUST help improve my 60' and nothing else? any help is much apretiated. thanx guys.

Everybody else has run slower when going over 4600 rpm on a stock motor.
If you could get a more forward blade angle and improve efficency and gain more shift extension, just cutting it back to 4800/5000 would help. Going back to a 4400 would probably take a major gutting and you need to be sure of the new pump/stator combo before doing that.
