Default HELP!!! Seafoam treatment problems!

I did the whole seafoam treatment on my sister's 98 camaro with 150K+ miles on it. After letting it sit for about 3 hours, I fired it up. As usual I got the fog show. Let it run at about 3k rpm until most of the smoke had subsided. Then I took it for a drive and noticed that I couldn't get above 2500 rpm before it would start flooding down and very rough idle. Never did get it above 55mph and it eventually died down to where I couldn't crank it. Could a very excessive buildup of carbon cause this or does this sound like another problem. If it is the carbon buildup causing this, how do I get it out of there if the car won't stay running??? Please let me know something guys!

Try disconnecting the battery for at least 10 minutes. That'll reset the PCM. It's always best to "reboot" first.

Also, check the plugs. Maybe they became fouled and need to be replaced.

Is the seafoam aerosol like the aerosol type GM top engine cleaner or liquid that you pulled through a vacuum line?
I know with the aerosol type, after it runs with the MAF unplugged it goes into "limp" mode for a while, or until I reset the MIL light. Either way, the suggestion about disconnecting the battery will reset the codes, also as was said the plugs could have fouled out.
Luck,
Gerald

The plugs were fouled out because for some reason a fuse blew to the MAF sensor. Tried resetting the PCM and is still limping... won't climb above about 1500 rpm. Changed the plugs too. Any more suggestions? BTW I used both the deep creep and the liquid. Connected all the vacuum lines back up but still no luck.

I'll bet the cat is clogged up... pull the exhaust and check. if you disconnect the cat.. adn it immediately feels like it's back to life.. that's it. I know more then one person that clogged a cat. converter doing that.. they should tell you to disconnect the exhaust before the cat's anytime you do this to a newer car.... sure would save alot of people $$

The cats were the problem guys. Happened to look down in the engine at night time and saw the exhaust glowing red. Cats were extremely clogged up. Hope someone else reads this before doing the treatment. I didn't have a problem on my 99 Z28 but i didn't have 152K miles on mine like my sisters did on her 98 regular v6. Thanks for the input guys. I know where to come now for all my problems.

It's not a problem for the people who don't have them Good thing you got that figured out. I hate how somethings are so little and easy yet you feel like your car is completely done for.

Still on the same subject of seafoam... has anyone used the transmission application. Loved it for what it did to my engine and saw it for transmissions and was thinking about doing it as part of maintenance.

Never used that on a tranny.. I always found a good tranny flush/fluid change to be fine.
