Default LS2 tb and intake

I did a search and I didn't quite find what I needed so I'll ask. What is required to run an LS2 intake and throttle body on top of a Gen 3 engine? I know that the issue will be drive-by-wire but would the entire ECU have to be used also to make it work or what? I'm lost. I know that the Z06 might be a better intake but that's not what I'm asking. Sorry for the noob post but it's my first one...hopefully of many!

Well I know you didn't ask about an LS6 intake manifold, but it does make more power than an LS2 manifold on an LS1. For the money you'd be way better off sticking with your stock throttle body and getting an LS6 manifold. If you're dead-set on a 90mm TB then you'd still be better off getting a F.A.S.T. LSx manifold which would also outperform the LS2 manifold.

To answer your question, yes, I am set on a 90mm(big numbers just get me). My main motivation behind trying to go the LS2 route is the significant difference in price. Or at least from what I hear. There's not too many LS6 manifolds on ebay right now and the one that is was like $400. An LS2 intake is $200 to $250. I might just wait until the aftermarket comes out with a throttle body compatible with the LS2 intake. On this note, does anyone know the diameter of the oval blade throttle body that TPIs offers and how well the intake/throttle body combo performs? Thanks for the help.

By the time you buy everything you need to make the LS2 intake work, you will be spending more than if you had bought an LS6, and you will be making LESS hp. Do you really want to run a 90mm tb bad enough that you'd sacrifice power to have it? You can get the LS2/90mm for now, and then later down the line when you want more power, you can upgrade to the LS6/75mm.

I am running with a LS2 intake and Nick Williams 90mm TB. Very happy with the combo.

This is a late reply but I've found my solution. Howell EFI has come out with an adapter to mount gen 3 style throttle bodies to the LS2 manifold. This may be old news to most but I just saw it in the new GMHTP. LS1290, how did you mate the Nick Williams to the LS2?

Just out of curiosity, how much $$ are you saving by running the LS2 combo by the time it's all said and done. I'd be interested to see if the sacrifice in hp can be justified by your savings over the LS6 intake.

Well, the factory look is a plus in my opinion too over the FAST which then leaves me with the LS6 as a competitor, but then over that I still like the larger opening of the LS2. Look at it this way...you have one less person to get in the way when you try to ****** up those FAST and LS6 manifolds when people want to sell them. HSV-GTS-300, thanks for the install pics.

if you buy an ls2 throttle body, you better have a tuning program for it b/c the throttle will only open to 88%, thats the factory setting on the fly-by-wire crap for the ls2.
