Question H/C exhaust question ? back pressure?

I am having stage 2 heads and cam installed at MTI later this month (485rwhp pkg thing). I already have FLP longtube headers with high flow and FLP Y-pipe cats and borla catback on the car. I was wondering if there are any pros or cons to removing the cats and putting in the off-road pipes (not too worried about if the exhaust is legal or not). Ive heard that "some" back pressure is a good thing and ive heard that no back pressure is good also. Can anyone clear this issue up for me?

thanks for the help.

also what cam would you guys recommend? G1 or C2. Jeff at MTI reccommended the steath II cam or the C2 to maintain the drivability of the car. I originally planed on the X1 cam which is a 230 and i was told that the X1 was way too aggressive for the street and mostly a cam for the strip. I want a little bit more out of the H/C but still be semi-streetable. I also want the car to sound aggressive any major difference in sound between the cams?

C2 224 224 .581 .581 112
G1 228 232 .588 .575 113
X1 230 227 .591 .571 112
R1 232 236 .575 .578 114
Y1 234 240 .598 .608 113
Z1 236 236 .585 .585 112
S1 244 244 .612 .612 112

MTI Stealth Series
Stealth I 220 220 .581 .581 115
Stealth II 224 220 .581 .581 116

Once again thanks for the help

if your planning to stay mti i would go R1

with tuning today you can get anything very driveable. i have an f11 (228/230) and it drives great, i would go bigger but it wont fit with my heads. i but a 232/236 in my buddies auto and after the tune it drives fine as well

i always advise go bigger than you initially plan because otherwise your gonna end up changing it out again

When I was on stock heads w my TR224 the highflow cats cost me about 9rwhp and equal torque over an ORY. So your leaving 10-12rwhp on the table by running cats. As Tally pointed out get a good tune and you should be fine with the C2 or something bigger. My TR224 drives 95% like the stock cam with Mikey's tune on it. The X1 will be a little worse with low speed and lugging the motor in 6th gear but no undriveable by far. The biggest drawback of the larger cams is the needs for lower gearing to get the full potential of the larger powerband. 4.10s and stock 10bolts & HC power level don't like each other too well so a $2K 12bolt is needed.
