Default PTV with TRak cam

can you install this cam in a stock motor? Seems like .644 is alot of lift without notching pistons.

Try not to think about lift and take a look at duration and LSA. It's the duration that runs you in to P to V clearance problems. When the valve is at max lift, the piston is pretty much at the bottom of the cylinder. It's the long duration that keeps the valve open when the piston is coming up that gets you into trouble. Try just looking at duration and not lift.

It's pretty close to an F-13 or F-14 in duration and smaller than a G5-X3 (234/242). Those fit with stock piston and unmilled stock heads. I would expect the 231/234 TRak cam would fit just fine. All you have to do is make sure you have stout enough valve springs and pushrods.

I am wondering which cam is going to make better low end Tq the F-13 or the Trak? It is going in a 04 GTO which weighs 3980 with me in it. My goals for the car are mid to high 11's with decent drivability. I will be adding a set of 205 AFR heads down the road to acheive this goal.

Do you have any sound clips?
