Default Reuse cometic head gaskets???

I've heard you can reuse cometic head gaskets. Has anyone had good or bad luck doing so? I have a set I plan to put back on. Thanks for any input.

No. Please never re-use head gaskets. They only work once.

During torqueing they get compressed and apply the appropriate amount of pressure. They do not uncompress and they will not seal correctly if re-used. It looks like you have a really nice motor in your car, don't skimp out on something so simple and so important.

I wouldn't do it personially but it can be done.
I have no experience first hand but have seen some posts where people reused their head gaskets.

Don't think it is a wise move. You went thru all that work to get them off, and to save a few bucks is not worth putting them on and end up having a leak, and having to go thru it again. Thats my opinion

I've reused them a lot on my bikes but on this car, I don't think I'd risk it. Entirely too much labor to cheap out.

The Cometics are an MLS gasket and can be used approx 5 times. I'm on my second use with mine approx 600 miles of hard driving with no problems. My experience says you can use them at least twice.

I called Cometic last year with the same question. They claim you can indeed reuse them but you need to inspect them closely. The top and bottom of the multi layer gasket has a lip that runs all the way around the outside of the gasket. If that is not damaged it will indeed seal again.

Why would they tell their customers that if it wasnt true instead of just selling another set? I agree with the others and I am very leary of doing this but that is what they told me. I personally have not tried it yet.g
