Oil filter question
I want to change the oil on my car this weekend, I use Mobil 1 5w30 and a K&N oil filter. I have read on hear of people using longer oil filters, Is there any benifit to using them? And does K&N have one for the LS1, if so what is the part number?

Personally, the K&N oil filter is great, but overpriced by $3. Which really isn't much.
I stick to Delco filters.
I know Delco has a longer filter, not sure about K&N. I am sure someone will chime in with part numbers for you.

I just bought a M1-302 which is the longer filter. There was a thread about filters earlier in the week I believe.

Caution to V-8 viewers...that filter is for the V-6.....M1-106 is the "regular", M1-206 is the "long" filter for the 5.7's

I think more filter area is a good thing. Slightly greater system capacity is a good thing. Some people agonize over 1/2 a quart of oil and a longer filter lets you put in the entire 6 quarts rather than just 5.5. I don't see any downside. I don't have a lowered car so a little longer filter doesn't bother me much.

AZ's website shows the M1-206 for $10.99

Byunspeed has the K&N for $9.95 shipped:

One thing thats kind of neat about the K&N Filters is the 1" hex shape on the bottom, although they're pretty easy to get at on the fbodies.
