Default Low Cam Dyno Numbers?

Got my cam in (F13 230/232 .598/.585 112) and had it dynod/tuned. Comp cams pushrods, patriot gold srpings, autolite 104 plugs, taylor wires, Flowtech longtubes, Z06 MAF, Lid, ORY, bullet muffler, FRA, fernco. Those are the only relative mods. I put down:

365rwhp/360rwtq.

WTF!? How did i put down so low? I was expecting anything from 380-400. The car is a 6 speed and a 1998 with 80k miles. I know the 98 heads suck, and the computer isnt as tuneable, and all that jazz, but are those numbers normal at all?

The tune was good i believe, as the guy is rather experienced, and my air fuel/timing was all where it should have been.

I just was wondering what you guys thought......

You need a LS6 intake and Ported T/B badly.. That would probably yield another 15-20rwhp.. A pulley would help out also.

obviously the 98's will put down lower, but i didnt expect that low. At least it will look better when i get a set of heads, jumping 60-70rwhp from a set of heads will look damn good.

I was thinking that a pully and TB could get me into the 280's, which still isnt great for the cam i have.... damn 98 head design.

Why do you say the '98 heads suck? That's the first I've heard of that. Unless you're talking about them being perimeter bolt heads for the valve covers, but that doesn't affect the air flow. Don't know what to tell you about the low numbers. Have you taken it to the track to see what she runs?

For lack of wanting to type alot, the quick answer is yes.

From what i have heard (once again, all heresay) the 98 heads flow quite a bit less than the heads of the following years. the perimeter bolts are just part of the shitty design. They are "supposedly" a good 10-15 hp difference.

What were your dyno numbers before that cam?

My car is a 98 too, and all the relevant info is in my signature.

I haven't had it tuned yet since the cam has been installed, so naturally I am kinda antsy to find out what she'll pull on the dyno myself.

I put down 330/346 without the LS6 IM and the MAF. So i estimate right around what you were at before cam if i had it dynod after those last 2 mods...

I mean ive seen BONE STOCK 02's throw down damn near 325 bone stock... Thats about 20-30 more than a 98-2000. Basically a bunch of little **** adding up. Heads, computer, block, etc.

I mean its possible, but i doubt it. EVEN I was hoping for 400. But even with a pully and TB i highly doubt id make it there. 380's and MAYBE squeeze a 390. But look at the bright side. 2001/2002 cars wont see as big a gain if they do a head swap, where as we will see VERY significant gains, due to our originally shittier heads.

that really sucks cause my goal for the summer was to save up for the rims(already purchased), and to get over 400rwhp N/A.....maybe a little nitrous is up next, then some heads.

Your stock ls1 heads are no "shittier" than those of a '01-'02 ls1. The reason the newer ls1's put down more power is because they have the ls6 intake, slightly different cam specs, and I believe less restrictive exhaust manifolds. The block has nothing to do with the power they put down either.

Have you maintained your ls1 well? That could be another factor on why your numbers are on the low side. Do you have any oil consumption? Are your spark plugs good? Have you changed your fuel filter recently? These could be contributing factors.
