i am STILL looking for a 98+ camaro Z28 or SS, and my cash is STILL limited, but i have been looking around. I found this on ebay, but it seems like its too good to be true, any thoughts?

run the vin number and see what results come up. I bought my 98 formula on ebay, i just didnt give any money until i seen the car in person. Chances are that car is going to jump alot higher in price the last day its up, thats just how ebay works.

i plan on spending about 8,000-8,500, so i would imagine it would get up around there. Im almost getting ready to give up the search, its been about 7-8 months and ive come up with nothing.

it will definitely end up going for alot higher. the way ebay is, you probaly wont be able to get it for $8500.

:werd: Cause someone else who's looking for a car and isn't tight on cash will pay whatever you aren't willing to pay. That's just how any auction works. That's a nice car and will prolly sell for at least 10,000.

i saw this one on Ebay last night. Its already at $7,500 with more than 4 days left. With NR auctions, most people dont bid until the last few minutes. Because bidding when there is this much time left is only gonna bring the price up over and over again. :bang:

It will go up a lot. That is how ebay works. Whever I bid on an item I always wait for the last 15 seconds. Then place my highest bid. I say 13,000.

Keep looking. You just have to be more careful and resourceful, and might have to travel to get your car.

I had to drive 350 miles to get it, but I eventually found a 1998 black t-top Z with 78k for $7000. Came with 6mos warantee too.

I've seen many sub $10k that were very nice, and many sub $8k that were reasonably nice. Keep an eye on traderonline.com too, search coast to coast and maybe consider driving one home.

BTW: I've driven this car beyond the warantee, never needed anything, fast and reliable. I couldn't be happier for $7000.

Ebay tip: I've bought many cars off of Ebay, here's the trick: bid early and somewhat low, let someone else win, then contact the seller and say "the bid went too high for me, but let me know if the high bidder backs out". MOST CAR BUYERS ON EBAY NEVER FOLLOW THROUGH. Most meaning more than half, and I don't think that's an exageration. I've bought 3 cars using this technique. The frustrated seller often doesn't want the hassle of relisting, and just wants to sell the car, and might think "that last bidder is probably as high as it would have gone anyway". My last purchase was a 1993 Z28 (LT1) with a light crunch in the rear 1/4, got it for $2800 4 years ago. Just recently sold it for $1800. It cost me $1000 to drive a 1993 Z for 100k+ miles over 4 years.

mk3cn4 - IS correct. Most buyers don't follow through on eGay and most cars are still available.

On the other hand, my brother has a nice NBM Z for sale for around $9,000 I think. It has brand new SS wheels and tires and looks VERY clean. After I got my vette, now he wants a vette. :jest:

Check local dealers as well. Go to the nearest big city and hit up the lots man, alot of them will overprice the cars and will keep them on the lots for a long time. That's when you need to find one and get a deal. I got mine here in CA off a lot for $9k with 2 year warranty (77k miles)...also might be a good idea to try and find a Z28, cause most people are willing to pay more for an SS, and if $ is the real issue, the Z28 is a better idea for you (without the sacrifice of tons of power between the two models)...

After 6 months of looking (in south carolina) I was about to by a perfect condition 1996 z28 when I saw a 1998 Trans Am in the Iwanna for 8700. It wa slisted under Trans Am instead of Pontiac and apparently had been in there for awhile. Talked the guy down to 7700 (had 100k miles) and now ive got my sexy NBM ls1 trans am.

Just some advice. Look for misspelling and strange listings (even on ebay). Also look on ls1tech. There are tons respectable guys listing (often modified) z28s, SS's, trans ams, and WS6s. Just keep looking.

Be realistic, but also be patient. Be very patient. I patiently searched for a Firehawk for 5 months. My search was narrowly focused. I put in offers on 4 Hawks that met my criteria during that time. None were immediately accepted. The last offer I made was very fair, to both the seller and me. When that offer was turned down, I was extremely disappointed. I gave up on Hawks and bought a WS6 that was close to what I wanted, but it was not a Hawk. Surprise! Two weeks later, the seller of that last vehicle contacted me, indicating he would accept my offer. Great! It gets better, though. Another two weeks after that, he dropped his selling price $3k below my offer. Unfortunately, my money tree had already been fully harvested. So, in summary, be patient.

what is too go to be true, there are millions of ebay users. the chances of that car being sold for anything less than 8k is very min.

yea just be patient, i was in the market for an ls1 car for 4 months. i almost bought a lil s10 xtreme b/c i just couldnt wait anymore. on the way to go look at it i passed a car lot and looked at a ragged out 2000 that ended up being a v6 car w/ z28 badges, sales man came up to me as i was walking off literally and i said this cars a piece see ya when he replied we just had one traded in yesturday morning from one of our salesmen. Not only was the car exactly what i was looking for i got ever single receit for the car from day 1 ! he took good care of the car and i paid a lil more then i wanted too but it being bone stock and obviously in good condition and not a ragged on car i knew it was worth the piece of mind. Im just trying to give ya a lil hope.
oh btw mines a 99 pewter z28 a4 w/ 81k 1 owner was bone stock. i gave w/ ttnl and 5 yr tire warrenty and 5 yr theft warrenty ( @ 500 each ) i paid just a hair over 9.5 they were askin 11 i talked em down to 8500 w/ ttnl when i offered 6k cash up front, which gave me a few dollors for my vette rims ( 17 n 18 ) tires, brakes , lid filter ect...
