Someone should beat you in the head for saying that, why don't you sell your SS and by a V6 and leave a piece of history in tact.

Did a post on the LS7 section not much info yet but the new trucks are coming out with Dispalcement on Demand. Wait six months or a year and these computers, engines and harness's will start showing up on Ebay and in the wrecking yards. You could build a head and cam Ls2 motor or better yet a low compression 9.4 stroker 402 and run it on 87 octane. From what I hear you cruise around on six cylinders and when the power is needed you run on 8 cylinders would be alot easier swap just need a computer and some additional senors. Give speartech, lingerfelter and some off the others sponsers a little time and I think they will be a be able to design aftermarket cams and develop swap harnesses to do this. Just my 2 cents worth what do you guys think?

Well, really and truly...

I've seen window stickers for both an 02 WS6 and an 02 Honda Accord V6. The WS6 sticker showed better gas mileage. The only real problem I have that kills mine is the heavy@$$ right shoe I wear when driving. :drive:

I just have a few points to make here on the whole gas price ordeal. First being this, how much more are you seriously spending if gas goes up 20 cents, or 30 cents a gallon? In all honesty, if your budget is that tight, take away one of your stops at McDonalds for the week and you'll break even. Secondly, if you bought your LS1 or LT1 for that matter, and when you bought it, gas mileage was on your mind.... time to get you a civic and rid yourself of your performace vehicle.

correction, canadian that is a litte over 4 doallrs. US funds that is roughly 3.36 a US gallon, but still rediculous! Anywho, gas here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is 2.69 a gallon for premium, 10 bucks got me just over 3 gallons
i am gonna cry!!!!!

prices in the states are nothing, they have been sky high in europe and likewise for years. also for everyone complaining, get a credit card that rewards in gas cards. my BP card on average gets me 25-35 dollars in free gas per month. usual BP cc bill is $1500, but hey its free gas.

The cost of the donor engine alone would exceed the fuel cost savings for the life of the car. This is why it's stupid when people sell sports cars to buy econoboxes.

It's like "I'll take a $3000 loss on my Camaro and pay sticker for this Prius so I can save $30 a week on gas."

I didn't get any better milage with a 3800 A4 then I do with my LS1 M6.

Re: Canadian prices...

Just to put actual numbers to the conversion, at today's exchange rate (1USD=1.163CAD), US dollars/gallon = 3.165 times Canadian dollars per litre. On my drive thru Ontario yesterday (Niagara Falls to Windsor) I saw premium gas for $1.12/litre. That comes out to be $3.54US/gal.

Man, that sucks. That's why I fill up before I leave NY and have enough to make it back to Michigan.

You're right - I'm not serious. For those with rude responses, take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Now smack yourself in the forehead - Do you really think I would put a V6 in an SS?? Come on!!!!

I actually really, really want to put a 408 iron block in this thing (can you say MORE gas??).

Here's what really annoys me though - Say the price of a barrel of oil goes up today $3. Well, your corner gas pump price will go up within HOURS. No reasonable person could possibly believe that the barrel of oil bought this morning for $60 whatever dollars made it to your gas pump by late evening. It takes WEEKS for that crap to be shipped and refined and shipped to your local gas pump. In other words, those bastards are truly gouging us for the difference until they actually get the product to the gas stations.

The gas companies for the last few years have been saying exactly two things:

1. When talking to investors they say "We can't freaking believe how huge our profits are - we're doubling profits every year for the last 4 or 5 years!!"

2. When taking to consumers they say "We can't freaking believe how high the price of oil is right now, and there isn't anything we can do about it."

In the meantime, go to Yahoo finance and look up the stock of the various oil companies. There's a section for "Insider transactions" that shows how much stock various company bigshots hold and how much they've bought and traded. Some of these people can buy $50 stock for $20 (example, not real numbers) then immediately sell it for the current $50 price. The company bigshots are making MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of dollars while you and I are paying $2.70+ for gas that hasn't even been produced yet.

How is this on topic with the forum?? Well, I'd like to try installing an LS1 in the rectum of a couple of oil company CEO's!!

Yeah, I seriously doubt anybody on this site that serious about their hobby would hack up and SS or any other car like that. I knew you were kidding.

FYI, $2.78/gal for premium this weekend here on the west side of Michigan. I average about 22 mpg with my Z if I keep my foot outta it. Problem is its no fun. Thats what I got the cavalier for during the week. Still cost me $2.59/gal in that thing today.

you should be smacking yourself in the head for such a trollish subject.

not trying to be rude of course, but you should think twice before posting such a misleading subject and wasting everyones time.

our A4 3800 gets worse gas milage than our A4 LS1s, if you really want to save on some gas, switch to 2.73s. you will see some improvement in highway milage, and run 13.8s at the track. you could trade me your SS for our V6 :-D or buy our V6 $3900 its in my first link in my profile..

gas prices here are 2.99 for premium.....and thats only because we'll have Illinois (chicago) people in town this week for the fair.....we get screwed everytime they show up....and no go on switching motors....just lighten your right foot....my friends 01 arctic white ss a4 gets about 2mpg better in town and highway than my cavalier does.....and makes about 3 times the power at the rear wheels my car makes in the motor....i know which one i'd rather drive and it's not a cavalier

it's crazy when you can get jet fuel cheaper than unleaded (it was $2.85 yesterday) and 100 octane leaded was only $3.05...we are all just getting OWNED by a big corporate SCAM

The faster you drive the qucker you get to where your going. So that way you can shut off your motor and save gas right? Ha Ha just fooling with ya. I had a friend who actually believed this was true.

My old man spent 40 bucks to fill up the family van and got so pissed he went out and bought a civic hybrid w/ cash the same day. Now only if I had 20k or however much those things cost, i'd spend 10k in modding my car 5k on a used bike and another 5k to spend on gas throughout the year.

Last road trip with my 99 Z28 A4, got 24 mpg on the way there, 23 mpg coming back. Ran a tank through with my foot into it regularily, got 18 mpg. All that's on 93 octane premium too. As a reference, my 02 cavalier 5-spd, 34 mpg on the last trip. I get 31-32 weekly daily driving it. Which is what I bought it for. Thats just good ole 87 octane, 86 when I can find it. Much as I don't want to go taiwapo, I may get a hybrid for my commute when I'm done with the cavalier.

Unfortunately looks like I'll be paying $2.99/gal for premium to go to woodward this weekend. yippee

What a bad joke this is! :eek2: You obviously aren't serious. Yeah, pay to insure an SS with a V6 in it. You'd have to take it to a smog ref an all so it would be legal. The V6 would reward your efforts with an extra 2 or 3 mpg. I say go for it! I wish you really would do it, so I could have a good laugh. You could have a pic of the SS in your avatar with the hood popped, sporting a V6 with a cold air intake, ha ha ha lol. :jest: You could even do a V6 muffler tip conversion, that way you have just one little galvanized turn down, lol. I'm laughing so hard at the thought of a V6 motor swap in an SS that I can barely type, ha ha lol. :jest: :jest: :jest:

EDIT: I almost forgot. What about an integra type R motor? That would be a real kick in the pants. :)

Great, you took a huge hit on your car, say 4k, bought a new civic, 18k, only to be economical and save a few bucks a week. Thats great and all but now your out 22k and drive a slow boring pos. :jest: :gay:
