Loud clicking noise after wot? Wont shift to second?

Loud clicking noise after wot? Wont shift to second? This is my first post...I just got a 1999 z28 the other day with 75k miles on it. Im having 2 problems. First if I drive it nice and normal all is good, but the first time I do a WOT run a loud clicking noise will start and takes for ever to go away, sometimes have to leave the car sit for an hour for it to stop. While its doing it, it almost feels like its misfiring but I could be wrong. The click is comming from the drivers side of the engine. Ive been told it could be a lose rocker or a lifter. Anybody know what could be wrong? If its a lifter how hard is it to change on this ls1? Any web site have instructions?
Second problem 50% of the time when I do a WOT when it goes to shift in second gear it wont, it will just govern off the redline and wont shift till I let off the gas a little.
