Arrow SLP Mass Air - Worth $50?

For $50, my buddy will sell me a used SLP 85mm Mass Air off of his car before he sells it.

I'm getting dynotuned at the end of the month - will this be a worthwhile investment? Getting full exhaust/cammed within the week, and I'd like a few little boltons before the dynotune. Already have lid, K&N, 160° tstat...

I can get the MAF for $50 - is it worth it?

Since not everyone can run SD (without MAF) that is a good deal!

Most local guys have said no as well, but there are others that claim gains on the dyno just from the MAF alone...

I may save the $50 and get a cheap set of SFC's...

A lot of that got started before people know how to tune for them. I have been around a long time, back when they said don't use the ASP pulley too because it caused knock. The pulleys have improved and so have the MAFs. I don't post much on here about this sort of thing because so many people are so quick to flame you for it.

I'd say its worth it especially if you plan on a dyno tune. You may gain nothing or even lose power or you may make decent gains but you will never know untill you try it and get a dyno run with it. For $50 its worth a shot. There are many people that make good gains with maf's and even if you only gain a few hp thats not bad for $50.

Well I have seen atleast one car that made 3rwhp from that MAF alone on a stock engine. 3 HP doesnt sound like alot but for 50 bucks? Once you get th emotor modded like heads and cam it might get you more than that. I would probably ****** it up for 50 bucks.

Do a search. Unless you know what you are doing and can tune for it LEAVE IT ALONE. Read about how it is that they make more power, as well....

If you have to ask, DON'T GET IT.

The stock MAF is fine. Use the $ towards some other mods.

If you plan to upgrade to a 90/90 intake, I would buy it and have it dialed in as part of your tuning process. If you are staying with an LS6 intake, save your cash.

For $50 it's worth a shot. Otherwise, I wouldn't mess with it unless you want to make the tuning investment. At some point in time you will need to tune for it (like any other mod) to take full advantage of the HP gains.

They bolted it on and dynoed the car.

More to it than that. Did it allow increased airflow, or lean out the fuel mixture?

The MAF will show gains by leaning your car out. This can be done by tuning alone. Why gain your power by tricking the computer with a MAF, when you could tune it the right way. After the MAF you will want to tune your car for it anyway. The hp gain you get from a good tune will be at least as much as the MAF+tune. I don't see the point in a MAF.

Yeah, When my car was tuned by my shop they all yelled at me for replacing my MAF. I had to put my stock one back on. I recommend you dont buy it and save up for a HIGHER POWER MOD!
