918 Hype Survey
There has been a lot of talk lately about how good the 918 springs are. How about a list of real world experience showing which cam and how many miles the springs lasted.
I have 30k out of mine and still going strong with cam in sig. Still has stock rev limiter though (6200).

I ran the "bad" pre-blue stripe 918's on my Formula... well, I still do in fact I broke one of them after well over 30,000 miles. These springs have been used with three different cams on two different shortblocks:
221/227 .561/.569 114+4
238/240 .605/.609 112+2
227/234 .58?/.58? 112+4
Spun 'em all up to 7000'ish and the springs worked great. I'm very impressed with 918's for a single drop in replacement spring. Would I use them again? Absolutely.

They caused false knock in my car above 4500 rpm

Whith those springs I had to turn off my knock sensors.
The problem went away after I changed to comp double springs

I wonder if a combination of the tr224 cam and 918's could last indefinitly. It only has .566" lift. .016" more than the ls6 cam and that will last +100k miles.

I like driving the car and am going to do some cross country road trips. I wont miss the power and would rather have peace of mind. I just want to drive the car for awhile and not have to work on it all the time.

Yeah, I should change the title. I love my 918's. Bought a used cam for $200 and new springs for $160. Installed them myself and got a lot of hp for less than $400. With no issues.
Anyone use 918's for the Trex cam?

Here is some experience for you.
I have used 918's and they worked great. I have installed a ton on other peoples cars as well. It's nice not having to change a spring seat.
The one complaint I have is not about the performance, but installation. The beehive design is tougher to install than other springs when using the Crane tool. The top of the spring is smaller and slides around a lot in the tool. If the spring does not compress perfectly straight, it is harder to get the locks in.
But hey, I recommended a set of 918's today to a customer.
