what do u think of this cam for
the TEA 2.5 heads?
226 230 114+2 maybe .590 of lift
thinking of this cam for my setup. im sick of my car running shitty. figure if a go to a smaller cam maybe driveability with be better

DUDE!!! you are killing me... I am looking at that exact cam and (finally) going with a 90/90 intake setup and still try to keep 450....
If you go ahead and do it let me know how it turns out....
You probably already know all this: I did some quick, math with several LSAs and ICLs, here are the DCRs (based on my 11.05 to 1 static), Overlap (.050) and Intake Valve Closings (IVC ABDC)

PDD: 226/230 112LSA 112ICL gets my vote by a long shot. It will make more mid-range power and torque while still pulling some very good numbers up high. You want at least a 45-46 IVC for max power. When you spread the LSA too much, you open the exhaust valve earlier, which could bleed off some valuable cylinder pressure. The 112LSA seems like the best combo.
Sidestep: I'd throw an adjustable timing gear on your current cam and advance it to 111ICL. You will pick up some driveability and mid-range and not lose any top end.

I am probably going to do it when I get back from vacation in Sept. will keep you posted....

thanks for the info patrick. will keep my eye out sidestep the only problen i see for me is that my pistons are notched. my heads are milled .024-should i take them off and mill them some more for that cam(226-230) if i went that way?

Hmm.... not sure.. mine are milled .024 also and I did fly-cut (.080) my pistons... I am guessing (I do not know the Futral cam profiles, I bet Patrick does) that the 226/230 cam would have a greater DCR compared to your F14 given the same LSA/ICLs, soooo... you do not need to mill the heads any more to get a higher DCR, it will get there by going to the smaller cam (226/230)...
Just for example here are the numbers from a CompCam XE-R 232/234 cam... just for comparison, obviously these numbers will not match your Futral cam exactly... I did these using my 11.05 to 1 compression... Your DCRs would be slightly higher...

ok i got a fms 226 230 +4 112lsa . im gonna put the ivc on 45 by running 112+0 . since i have a stock bottom end i dont wanna spin it to the moon either. maybe shift light set at 6500rpms. what do you think? or should i try 112+2 ????

The "gomer grind" rev. 2 cam that I install in alot of local cars is a 226/228 114 +2 using X-er lobes. Hold on a sec and I'll stick up a graph of a cam only car I installed one in just the other day.
The car below is a 2000 Z28, flowtech headers, magnaflow catback, LS6 intake, underdrive pulley, 918 springs, and a Bo White Tb.

I can't imagine that the cam your contemplating will be any better than the F14 as far as driveability goes....if it's the standard F14 with a 112lsa / 108icl that is. If it doesn't have any advance ground in, I'd advance it 2-4 degrees and see if that helps first. You can easily install an offset bushing in the stock cam gear to advance it if you don't have an adjustable chain already.
BTW, Sidestep.....where are you getting the DCR calculator? Have a link? I've only seen one out there but I needed a login to use any of the calculators....PITA.

I would say drop it off and have it tuned as promised
Other than that we have good luck with a few different Cams.A populer one is a 228/232 and the other is the 232/234.But we have them ground a certain way to give excellent idle/drivability. Not rocket science but different than the Cams listed above

I say go for the G5X3-114. With all the bolt ons you have, might as well aim for 500rwhp. You don't hear about any tuning problems with the G5X3, even though it is bigger than your F14. Hell, I don't hear much in the way of the F14 or F15 being better than the F13 in terms of power, so might be worth a shot, and drivability can't be any worse.
I still say there are some other problems with your car if it won't hold a tune. I'm curious to see how you get it resolved and what sort of power you end up with.

I'm running a 230/232 112+2 on xer lobes and it drives quite well. I have not put her on the dyno but my butt tells me theres more power! Oh yeah I just bought HP tuners and have been tuning as I learn so not the best tune. Still drives real nice.
