Default wanting 400 to the wheels....3.42 gears

Yo fella's. I've read the cam guide(s)... but, i'd like some info from the guys that have already done similar swaps.

first off, the car.
2000 FRC vette, 6 speed ofcourse. 3.42 gears, which will remain in the car.
I have a vararam,
6.0 liter MAF,
ported throttlebody,
LS6 intake(stock power duct for now),
msd wires,
LG motorsports long tubes,
stock modified H-pipe, no cats,
stock mufflers for now but, I do have Z06 titanium mufflers for the car, and I had it tuned. List of mods, before the ported throttlebody, made 355rwhp, and 366rwtq.

I'm happy with the numbers but, ofcourse want more.
Car went 12.58 on street tires, and stock manifolds.
I want low elevens if possible, with the 3.42 gears with a cam swap for now(later i'll do heads and a new cam).

What is the BEST CAM FOR MY CAR THAT YOU KNOW OF??? I am not worried about the idle, as long as it does idle. Not worried cause I have a hook up with a great tuner.

Thanks for your knowledge

Jamie

Cam only plus your current mods... right???

LG G5X3 or TSP M3 should hit just over 400rwhp (sae) with your current mods... I am unsure about that stock h-pipe. The F13 from Futral might get you there also... no matter what cam do an Under Drive Pulley also....

Good Luck..

Cool, thanks, I think it's possible. Stock H-pipe, will go bye bye, within a week or two, in favor of a custom 3inch X. I have seen 400plus to the wheels but, most with gears.

Pulley wasn't in the budget but, if it's a must,..I guess we'll see what I can do.

Thanks man.

Hey you already have the old pulley off to replace the cam... don't throw away that chance to swap it out, honest 7-9rwhp...

NA is about nickel and dime'ing to your goal...

True, I hear you but, to me, it is all about what I can do for the money, as of now. I am a GM technician, so I have ulimited tools, and almost unlimited time, cause it's my own. It's just the money thing, ya know. Half the parts I have were given to me ...I'm not worried about having to pull the pulley, although in my opinion it sucks...I would like to do the two piece front cover, so I don't have to pull it again, any time soon, as when I change the heads, and again, the cam. Your right though man,...maybe i'll look into how much they run for. What, about $300 bucks?

F13,F14, will get you there no problem. Probably more like 420 or so

I went a hair over 400/380 on the F14 with stock pulley and the tb unported...

I loved the f14, even on 3.42s in a m6...

If you saw my overlay of a G5x3 vs. F14, you'd laugh. The F14's curves are both amazingly greater than the X3, and the F14 has alot more lowend torque... And still carries it out higher and flatter than the X3..

I know you arent racing in the low rpms, but sticking with 3.42s the extra lowend Tq is a blessing.

Oh and the MS3 is nice, quite large, alot of power too, no experience with it personally, but from what I've seen it makes some damn good #s, with some excellent curves.

Oh, and on the timing cover, I know a few people that have cut theirs in half, then used some gasket maker, and or a piece of a gasket to seal it back up with no problems.

Not the "nicest" way to do it, but its surely alot cheaper...

but the QTP cover is a very nice piece of work too..

Futral Motorsports, they are a sponsor. --->

Most of their cams (and most LS1 cams in general) are ~$400 for just the cam.

I highly reccommend you upgrade the gears. Stock gears + healthy cam just isn't the best idea for both streetability and getting into the powerband quickly.

Eastside put a cam in my car.. made 403 to the tired thru a heavy 12 bolt and a steel driveshaft.... and 4.10 gears, which rob power. Had I kept teh stock driveline in teh car, it would have been closer to 415. You might wanna call them. see if they can help ya out.

Also a very nice choice!

the F14 is a Futral Motorsports (FMS) custom Cam Motion grind.

its just abou 600 lift on a 112/114/whatever

the F13 has a meatier powerband comparitively, but less of the 'chomp'.

the HPE S-Cam has made like 430 on a ls6 intake, ported tb/pulley, catback/lt setup, very nice grind, very streetable, and alot of power throughout.

It never gets enough recognition, but I think its a great choice too.

Holy sh*t guys,..thanks for all the responses. I just got off the phone with Thunder racing...I was on the phone with them for about 25 minutes discussing my car, and another 408 LS2 i'm building,..looks like I made a choice. Don't have all the specs in front of me but it's a 232 duration. 112....595lift. Should be pretty badass.

firefighter,..i'll pm you.

j-dawg out. And thanks again fella's for the response.
