Right now I have a Vigilante 3600 2.5 str, I am going with a smaller stall(2800). Should I stay with a 2.5 str or is there something better I should look into?? I don't go to the track so 1/4 times really don't concern me.
Thanks Jason

Well, if you don't go to the track and especially if you don't use slicks or at least street slicks, a high STR only means more tire spin for you.

When they restall it, it is possible that they will only change the pump; therefore your STR may not change a lot. I would have them give you a standard Vig 2800 if there is any choice.

Precision is very "cookie cutter" in their approach to building converters. First, only one of their converters achieves a 2.5 STR...the Vig 4000 which uses the #8 pump with their standard 082 Stator (S-10 stator) that they use in everything. The Vig 3600 is a #7 pump with an 082 stator that has a STR of 2.37 (as rated on GM's $1 million transmission dyno). The Vig 3200 has a STR of 2.18 and the Vig 2800 is around 2.0. As you can see, by using the same stator in everything, you can't change around STR much when all you're doing is changing pumps to raise or lower stall.
Don't expect Precision to know how to modify STR. They say all their converters have a 2.5 STR, but that's just marketing BS. Don't get me wrong, their converters work well...just don't expect the same kind of custom tweaking to STRs like you would get at Yank.
So to answer your question...when you have your stall lowered at PI, you're pretty much going to be stuck with the same STR that come with all Vig 2800s. Hey, what did you want for free anyway?

Why don't you go to the track? Aren't you even curious what it runs?
