Default 3000 stall with re-gear

I just got a set of Richmond 3.73's and i'm buying a 3000 stall TC off of my friend for my car. Does that setup sound about right because i've heard if you get to low of a ratio with to high of a stall it's worse for the car. I'm looking for a happy medium and to get rid of the dead spot on the car in 3rd gear. Should that set-up give the car a bit more kick?

If I were you, I'd install the converter first with your 3.23s and see how you like it. You may decide that the gears are unnecessary. With 3.73's I'd want to go with a higher stall - 3500 and up. A 3000 with 3.23's or 3.42's is a nice tight combination for daily driving and will still give you traction problems when you launch. 3.73's will be that much worse.
