Default Lock Up Question ?

When the converter locks up,is it supposed to slip into lock up or be nice and firm like manually locking it with HP Tuners?

The car has a SS4000 and is a full bolt on car, just wanting to find out how it is suppose to feel.I would think that it sliding into lock up would be hard on the lock up clutch.
