Default just got my 00' ws6

hey guys
i just got my car last week and i had a quick question. When i started my car up the other day the "skip elim" light came on. I think it was something along those lines. Does that mean i still have the skip shift on the car? If i do i can search to find out how to remove it. Also, how many of you use 6th gear that often. If you do, what speeds are you using it at or do you just cruise in 6th between 60-70. Thanks a lot
Kevin

The skip shift light should come on in 1st gear at low rpm/part throttle. I have mine tuned out and the light still comes on but the gear shifter doesn't fall in to 4th gear any more. 6th when crusing @75 or when making a top speed run 150+
on the new ride BTW

you can buy a skip shift eliminator. search the sponsors.

by the way, you dont need 6th gear for 150+ runs, 5th does just fine

5th gera actually tops out higher than 6th. 6th tops at 152 and 5th (when cpu limited) is 162, and when thats turned off and gear limited...168. i never use 6th under 55 mph. it almost bogs and uses more gas than just staying in 5th. lower rpms doesn't always mean better, if its boggy.

I agree with that...I think its actually worse to "lug" the car at such a low rpm....I generally keep the rpm's on the low side about 1500...6th only is used when I know im not stopping soon (traffic, lights etc.) and going at least 55+....its a pretty steep OD gear

thanks guys. I also noticed that when i am going really slow (10 mph or so) and shift to second it doesn't always want to go in. If i pult it to neutral then put it back to second it goes in fine, but at higher speeds it goes in fine. Any help. thanks.

i figured out why it isn't letting me go into second. Whenever the skip shift light is on i can't go into second. Also, it seems sometimes if i don't go far enough into third it pops out. Does that sound like i will need a new synchro. thanks again for any help or advice.

yes, thats the whole function of the skip shift. If you aren't using something like 30% throttle (thats a guess), you'll have to shift to fourth. But if at WOT it will let you shift to 2nd.

If you aren't able to shift into 3rd on a consistent basis, then you might need some work done. But if it happens on a random, inconsistent basis, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just get the feel of where the shifter should be when its all the way in and don't let the clutch out if it won't go all the way in. If that happens to me, I usually just double clutch it and it'll go right in. hope this helps.

just get rid if the skipshift... as for 6th... I feel like I'm bogging the engine (no pull at all) anywhere below 72mph... if lower, I'm in 5th... cruising or not.

when shifting from 1st to 2nd rev past 2g, then you could go 1st to 2nd gear. if u shift 1st 2 2nd before 2g then light comes on and u will have "skip shift" to 4th gear. get the "CAGS". you'll be glad you did.
