I hooked mine on the passenger side head and on one of the assesory bracket bolt holes on the drivers side front.

You should be alright as long as you use a bracket mounting hole and not one of the water pump mounts.

are you replacing rod bearings or main bearings? You can do the rod bearings in the car, but to do the mains you have to pull the tranny out. I guess if you really wanted to you could do those in the car as well, but holding the crank up and putting the mains back on would be a bitch! Out the bottom if you have a lift, out the top if you only have a cherry picker!

I pulled from top.
I had to remove the tranny halfway thou.
the manifold rubbed very hard against the top rear part of where the wipers seat, I removed the radiators, the windshield wipers and all plastic thing bellow the wipers (broke the windshield )
CAREFUL with some grounds in the rear of the drivers head (of the car BTW! )
and a bunch of connectors hiden when you tilt the engine (cam sens among others).

Well I'm redoing rods and crank bearings -i have a big bore for the car -but I wann sell this motor sometime in the future -so i'm going to have the crank cut and make sure its a good motor for the future owner -it spun a rod bearing "my fault thow" I raced someone with the car ice cold "oops" but it only has 34k on it so the rings and schtuff are good never been sprayed ect. Well i'll eye ball the bolt holes you guys said I just wanted to be sure

You didn't have to do all that.
Just pull he tranny, exhaust manifolds, intake, crank pulley, all accesories and make sure you get all the wiring off of it. Then it just slides right out.

Yeah the top is easier but it takes ALOT longer. And besides how mant people have access to a lift when ever they want?
I can got the motor and tranny on the floor in about 30 min last time i pulled mine out the bottom. About an hour to swap everything over to the new long block, then another hour to put it back in the car. about a 3 hour job of swapping motors.

Juans the man at that ****!! 3 hours for a swap i pulled one from the top. a chain went from the back of the driver side head that crossed over to the front of the pass. head, then another chain from the pass. front to the driver front, put a turnbuckle on it and lifted it out that way. tranny was taken off before the pull though and we didnt have a leveler, just the cherry picker. be sure to get the grounds off the driver side of the block. just follow the front o2 sensor and ye will find. i think its 3 grounds on the driver head and 2 on the pass. someone can correct me if im wrong. we took the intake off and the oil pressure sending unit.
