Asked this before..... never really got a straight answer. Comp R lifters. Why must they have adjustable rockers?

Because the comp r lifters have a very narrow range of acceptable preload and adjustable rockers allow you to adjust the preload (via the adjusting nut on the end of the rocker arm over the pushrod) indpedant of tightening down the pivot point of the rocker.

You could get yourself a pushrod length checker, adjust it to see what length gives you the proper preload with stocker rockers tightened down to 22 ft-lbs, and then order a custom set of pushrods that are the length you need. The only downside would be that if you milled your heads or changed to a cam with a different base circle you would have to get different length pushrods or shim the rocker stands. Plus, this assumes both intake and exhaust lobes have very similar base circles. If not you can not shim for corrections cause of the common rail the rockers share, unless ofcourse you had got the proper length pushrods for the cam before milling the heads (different length for exhaust and different length for intake).

That's what I thought.... They are just not forgiving as far as preload tolerance goes. I was just trying to justify having to re-buy rockers and pushrods. Have Yella Terra's and Comp hi-tech 7.400's (though they seem at least .050 too short).

I thought adj rockers would give more HP compare to non adj ?
