I am looking at this used (at a dealer) 46,000 mile convertible 99 LS1 auto with posi and 2.73 gears. Will this car be a dog? Is it worth 12 grand? Will it get 20 mpg+ with those gears?

its a vert? i think thats a fair price depending on mileage/condition etc. It should get over 20mpg. I got 20mpg with 3.73 gears to Florida at 80mph with the a/c on :)

i paid 11.7 for my Z28 vert with 2.73s and some aftermarket 18"s. it ran a 13.9 bone stock so thats not too shabby.
oh and it had 73k miles also

My friend has a '99 TA vert with 2.73 and yesterday he ran 13.6 with only a 2.1 '60 with loudmouth and lid and its a monster on the freeway :D! and we get a nice cherp into 2nd gear so no its not a "dog" its a fucking sweet ass car I say buy it (he payed 13.5 for his with like 40K on the clock so thats a steel)

Get a nice stall converter, 3500 or so and those 2.73s will feel MUCH better if you think it feels a little "doggy".

Thanks guys, yes it's a vert. Those performance #'s are impressive. I think I'll take a closer look at it. The dealer is asking 13.5 I only want to pay 12. we will see. Thanks

I got 23mpg with the top down on vacation @ Lake Michigan, down to Indy for the F1 "race" and back to Chicagoland. Turns like 2000 rpm@80mph with the 2.73's :drive:
