Pontiac Firebird 1967-2002 - 99 T/A 2.73 gear

I am looking at this used (at a dealer) 46,000 mile convertible 99 LS1 auto with posi and 2.73 gears. Will this car be a dog? Is it worth 12 grand? Will it get 20 mpg+ with those gears?

I have a 98 Formula w/ the 2.73s. There is a pretty decent when compared to friends w/ 3.42s or whatever the next up is. But I got 22mpg this tank and I have been driving it pretty hard. I usually dont drive it quite so hard and get 25/26 city and 28-30 hwy. I think its a great daily driver. 12gs seems a bit high tho

it won't be a dog. but stock for stock, it's the slowest LS1 f-body you can get- convertibles are the heaviest, and 2.73s are the lowest available gear ratio available in these cars. that said, it would still be plenty fast.

It won't be a dog....my car had 2.73 gears for the first 116,000 miles of it's life.

Where I live 12G's for a 46,000 mile TA vert is about normal. My car has 273's and it's not a dog it also gets well over 20mpg. I'd get the car, if you decide you want more gear a used rear out of another Fbody is cheap and an easy swap. Or you could just get an aftermarket stall.

With current Gas prices you cannot go wrong for the style.

12g's is decent, depending on the overall condition. It is a convertible, so it does bring in more money. You should get over 20 mpg with those gears, but it shouldn't be a dog.

my 99 TA auto 2.73 got 115,000 miles and i get 26mpg on highway
