5.3 suburban question....
my friend just bought his 1991 mustang 5.0 with a vortech S/c. i think he is making about 300, maybe.... he wants to race my suburban to get a realistic veiw on how his car is running... i know i cant beat him with the stock motor, but was wondering if there was any easy and cheap upgrades that i could do to give me an edge on him.... i am giving about 2000 pounds and about 15 hp.... any ideas?????

Descreen your MAF and do your Throttle body Bypass will give you about 10 to 15 HP I did that to a Friend of mines 02 Z71 tahoe and it felt alot better in about the 3-4.5 rpm range. Hope That will Help

I had a hot running Tahoe a few years ago. Stock it ran 16.3 at 85mph. When I was done, it ran 14.82 at 91 mph. Still way off from keeping up with a supercharged Mustang, but here's what I did:
UPD air box.
ASP underdrive pulley.
Tuning by Thunder Racing (better A/F ratios, timing, no torque management, raised shift points).
Yank Truck Thruster 3000 torque converter.
Magnaflow muffler.
160 degree thermostat.
Good luck!

im sorry but nothing you do is really going to get your suburban to beat a mustang as much as i hate to say that. i took my dads 04 498 BB suburban ( yes the big 8100 ) tuned it, knn filter, 4.10 gears, and a few free mods and it wont beat a stock mustang. plain and simple you say 2000 pounds id bet its closer to 3500 mabey more i know his gross vehival weight is over 8k your will be less. that alone will put you 3.5 seconds behind him if you do the .01 sec per 100 pds " rule of thumb ". 100 shot wont help ya sorry, dont descreen the maf its pointless.

i dont know.... he raced my friends tahoe, same size engine and is about 300 pounds lighter and he only won by about 3 cars.... which is pretty sad i think..... i am sure a 150 shot would do the job..... if not, so what.... not like im trying to make a race wagon or anything..... his car weighs 2900+him and his brother.... suburban weighs 5100+ me..... 2000 lbs diffrence..... plus i get way better traction...

its supercharged, i dont know if the guy who installed it did it right or not..... i dont think he did cause we raced a honda 2000 today from a roll like 30mph..... got beat by like 6 cars before we hit 80... it was pretty sad

Anyway, I wouldnt worry too much about trying to win against him in a race. If you really want to then try to set up a better flowing air induction, get an exhaust cutout, and then wire up that 150 shot.
-edit- If you friend wants a realistic idea of how his car is running. Tell him to race a stock LS1(not a ******* suburban), maybe that will open his eyes up wide enough to let him know that someone dumped a can of worms on his ***.-edit-
