Is this engine worth it?
On Ebay
I need an engine for my 1999 camaro SS which currently has a 382 stroker with 9:1 compression and all forged bottom end.
I saw this engine on ebay and want to know if it would work on my car which uses 93 pump gas. I normally run no higher than 12psi of boost. He says I can get thicker head gaskets to lower the compression because as the engine sits now it has almost 10:1 compression.

I'd try to get something with less compression. What size heads did he have on it to achieve 10:1? Even with 72cc chambers, its not going to be very low.
There are lots of sponsors with deals on shortblocks now too. I'd feel safer getting something that is build specific to your needs, rather than trying to make something with higher compression work.

This guy is on LS1tech as well.
If those pistons are a -12cc's and you run a 72cc head you can get the compression down a bit, BUT 9:1 ISN'T GONNA HAPPEN. Not even with a .070 gasket which wouldn't be the best gasket anyways.
Also if your doing a 408 I hope you have a nasty big head unit for your power adder as the extra cubes will really want a large turbo/SCer to make good boost.

Is it just me or do those look like a flat top with a 2cc style valve relief?
Or do they have a bowl shap to them? .....?
Also, with the extra cubes, the boost you are running now will likely be down around 7-8 with the larger CI.
And, I doubt the STS kit will be too great on a 408, something that large needs alot of air moving to it.
