Default LS1-->Z06 Conversion Questions???

I recently smoked the motor is my 98 LS1 TA and I was interested in purchasing a Z06 shortblock. I was just wondering what all was different on the two motors, and if I could use parts off of my LS1 to complete the motor? I was also wanting to know if the bottom end in the Z06's is forged. Basically I just need to know what all it would take to put the Z06 shortblock into my car and get it running solid. Any information would be appreciated!

The z06 shortblock and the ls1 shortblock are the same. The only differences in the z06 engine and the ls1 is the heads and the cam. If you are going to get a new shortblock then get a forged one from a sponsor on the board. All the LS6 (zo6) and LS1 parts are interchangable. As well as some from various other motors like the 5.3L

the Z06 block and a 98 block are different as far as the Ls6 block has better oil and water paths. as far as everything bolting up, you will be ok.
