Prices of LS1 cars
I'm very happy to say that I am going to buy my first F-Body car within the next 4 months (I hope). Just trying to get things together for now. My question is what is a good price range for the type of car...such as with year and options and mileage....I found one that wasn't very bad at all. It was a 2002 Trans Am with a Ram Air Hood(Not factory) Jet black perfect everything. With less than 31000 miles on it....oh it was an M6 also. The Asking Price at the dealer was $16995. I'm not looking for quite that high but I'm not looking for that high of a year either....I was just thinking for the options and year it was an awesom deal!

That's a good price. They will very price depending on milage because I have seen 2000 with 20,000 mile's on it and went for $24,000. But youw ill find one that fit's your budget and in opinon I would jump on that WS6 in you are ready to buy.

Dealers will most likely always have higher prices.
If you find someone who took care of their car and has to get rid of it because now they have a family you can get lucky on a good deal like I did.
This past June I paid $11k for my 1999 6-Speed Z28 with 47k mi. on it. I think I got a good deal. It's even a hardtop and I haven't ever seen any other Hardtop V8 FBody's around here.
Be patient too and wait for what you want. I looked for almost a year. Be sure to check Autotrader and local ads often. You'll eventually find a nice car.

98-dont pay over 10k, unless that sucker is low, low miles and flawless.
99/00-dont pay over 13k
01/02-dont pay over 17k(and only that high for SS/WS6)
this is based on my observations of people selling them around here, and what ive seen online. dealers will list more, but dont pay what they want. and these cars are technically "worth" more than what i just said, but the market is kinda bad on them so the sellers cant really expect to get book value.
a little over a year ago i payed 16,250 for my 02 Z28 with 22k miles, and the list was right at about book value for the time $20,995. just recently im seeing "identical" 02 Zs going for 14k. just be patient in your search.

the "book value" i just got from that car is 13,175. i would try to low ball them.

I paid $14,700 for my 2000 SS Camaro with 40,000 miles on it. I feel it was a pretty good deal and I haven't been able to find any other similar cars for much less. So that might help for reference.

I got my 2000Z28 A4 w/Leather, 17in Chrome SS wheels, T-Tops, Traction Control, and 21,000 miles for 15K. The dealer was asking 16.9 The car also had brand new KDWS, which is worth quite a bit when you think how much tires are for 17in wheels.
That is a pretty good deal in my book.

I got mine with 62K M6 for 14..I looked on autotrader and in a 100 mile radius there was only one m6. There are a boat load of A4 anything here in cali from 8800 to 60K(the 60K one is that ZL1 phase 2)

I paid 13.5k in may of 2004 for my 99 Z28. It had just under 17k miles on it. Not sure where you are at, but my suggestion is to search during winter time if you're in that type of climate. They seem to go for a little bit cheaper during the winter months than spring - summer.

Good point. I bought mine in Pa in March of 2004(see above for details). Based on the mileage and the actual car itself, it was obvious the car was a 2/3 of the year car, seeing no snow/winter weather.
I live in California and this exact car would catch 3-5K more out here easy. Don't hesitate to trave across the country for the right deal. It cost me 500 bucks in gas and hotels to bring her back and it was well worth it.
