Default Where's a good place to pick up a locking gas cap?

I want to go ahead and get a locking gas cap for my car, you can never trust people these days. Just not sure who would actually carry them.

Auto parts stores perhaps? (NAPA, O'Reilly, etc.)

I got mine at Autozone. They did not have one for a 2002 when I first got my car so I got one for a 2000 or 2001.

Mine's a '98, but I'm pretty sure they all use the same gas cap.

After I submitted that, I kind of figured 98's were different since we have the small gas tank.

Might not help. I reading somwhere the other day that the new thing is crooks are just drilling a hole in your tank and drain it out the bottom.

Wow, $20-$30 seems pretty expensive. I bought one for my truck a few years back at Autozone and only paid $9-$10. Maybe the prices range with different applications, but still, its doing the same thing and should be that big of a difference in price.

Locking caps are easy to get around, all you have to do is drill out the lock, and presto! Lock is gone.

I know this because my cousin forgot her keys in her car one time, and needed me to get her gascap off. Hah.

Well its not thief proof, its just 1 more way to make it more difficult for them to steal it. I highly doubt those looking to steal gas aren't gonna have a drill handy with them.

hey this thread is for all the 98 owners who is need of a locking gas cap. ive been searching for a gas cap for awhile and tried modding sevral other locking gas caps so that it could fit my 98 F-body.The best one that fist great with little moding is
AC DELCO#22660006 All you have to do is dermal down the triangle piece on each side. And it should slide right in and lock. I tried modding the stant cap also but it does not fit as good as the AC Delco one and also the plastic is weaker. Hope this thread helps out other 98 F-body owners

here is a close up picture of the triangle trimmed.

I called multiple dealers and they didn't show any locking gas caps for my '98. They needed to look in the Accessories catalog to find the locking cap for my 2500hd. I'm debating trying to pick up that S-10 one and keeping it if the retainer fits.

I picked up a CST 5504, looks like the triangles will need to be trimmed... but the retainer ring is slightly too small to slide onto the cap. Also, the CST appears to be vented whereas the stock cap is not. Does that matter?

The Autozone dude tried a second 5504 and got it stuck on the neck and broke the cap trying to get it off. Guess that doesn't bode well for a locking mechanism

Autozone has the wrong gas cap listed for 98s. It would fit on a prior LS1 mabey, but the part number says its for a 98 which is wrong. I ended up just going to gm and getting a stock gas cap for $10.

Hey! That would be my car in the pics. LOL

I actually just used my pocket knife to cut the triangle out a little.
