Ls1 6.0L Iron block
Just wondering which parts from an LS-1 will not fit on the 6.0L block. Or will everything fit? Also if anyone knows how to figure the displacement between cylinder size and stroke it would be much appreciated.

Formula for Displacement:
bore x bore x stroke x number of cylinders x .7854 = Cubic Inch Displacement
If you use a 6.0L block you will have to drill and tap a hole for the alternator bracket. It's pretty straight forward.

to go 427 with the 6.0 block you'd need a 4.060 bore and 4.125 stroke. if you want 427 displacement i'd opt for the darton drysleeved ls2 or if you have the money go wet sleeve. the larger bore 4.125 will unshroud the valves and allow the heads to breath better. add the 4" stroke and your good to go.
otherwise i'd stick with a 408 using the iron block; 4.030 x 4.00

I hear nothing but horror stories about these re-sleeved engines. I know the ones that work, work great but the percentages of ones that seem to be failing are to substantial to ignore. That's why I was thinking about the iron block. Well, that and the fact that their dirt cheap. Is ther any other reason besides weight to avoid the iron block?

I have had both blocks and the difference is about 100 lbs. I have weighed the blocks. You could also look at the ls2 block if you don't want the weight penalty. I agree that the resleeve leave a lot to be desired in terms of leaking coolant.
