Default Cam it or Spray it?

Well hey guys. My car is being full bolted on this winter. 4k stall, LTs, True Duals, ls6 intake, ET Streets. After that i want to do something else for more power. Either cam or spray. I am set on the MS3 if i get a cam and a 100-150 wet or dry shot if i go nitrous. Now, for all the stuff for the cam it will cost $1000 than $500 for install and another $500 for complete professional tune and dyno. So $2000 for the cam. Now the Nitrous wil lcost about $1000 for the full kit with all the stuff and than prolly $500 for install and tune and what not. For sure nitrous will be a little cheaper and give me more power, but it has is scary drawbacks of blowing the motor in a weird case and not getting the cool cam sound. I am figuring i can prolly put down 400 to the rears with the cam and prolly 450 ish with a 100 shot. I would feel safer with a cam but i odnt get the power or money saving the nitrous gives. My dad told me i should not do internal work as i will start breaking stuff and will be broke down while i save for it to be fixed and will not be happy. But i rarely ever read of that with jsut a cam. I am also sure he'd freak if i got a big nitrous bottle in there also. But hey, i paid for the car and i want to make it faster. Which route do you thinkwould be best for me to go and why?

Cam and Heads for reliable power, might cost alot more but well worth it. You can save alot of money by doing the swap your self. Nitrious are good but need to tune the car very carefully to make it save. For me, nitrious is too much risk to take.

Wink

Well, I've been doing my cam install since July 29,2005 and have learned some valuable lessons on paying attention on how to set my timing. If I would of done this again, I would go for the plug and play kit of a Zex Kit, and would of forgotten about the cam. Good news is, I have learned alot and if I ever did another cam install the installation would be alot easier. I would still go for the nos. I'm still going to add nos, after I put in the clutch and the new 12 Bolt.

If your budget can afford it, just do both.

Bottle is instant 100 rwhp with minimal install time. No driveability issues, no worries of drivetrain issues, not as many nightmare installs, etc.. Plus, the kit can grow should you want more power.

I completely agree. Even driving around with a 50 shot is a hell of a lot of fun.

Cam.

Nothing beats the sound of a Cammed LS1 because you not only get the power, but it sounds pissed off 24/7 haha.

Thats exactly what I did... well worth the cash, I couldn't be happier.

Nitrous is a ways down the road... 400whp cam only is nothing to gawk at.

cam it. a healthy cam and good tune would be like running a 100 shot all the time. no bottle refills.

I made that dedcision last fall and ended up with the MS3. I love listening to that SOB idle each and every time I turn the key and over every single mile that I drive. I almost went with nitrous everytime I did a major mod (exhaust, converter, then cam) and thus far I have been happy with the results because they are in effect every single mile I drive the car, every single day.

I still have nitrous in the future though.

Not quite. You aren't going to gain anywhere near ~125 rwhp with a cam, and that number can easily be had with nitrous.
