Default Intercooler Plumbing 3 Inch Or 3.5 Inch

It seems to me that 3 inch intercooler tubing seems to be the standard. How many of you out there run 3.5 inch tubing. The Griffin intercooler has 3.5 inch inlet/outlets, run reducers or find someone to fab 3.5 inch??? How significant would the loss in pressure or flow (without bends in the equation) be with 3 inch opposed to 3.5 inch tubing???

How much more would it cost you to get 3.5 made up? It's intake pressure anyway so there shouldn't be a problem with 3"... it's what you want going in, just not coming out your exhaust (although turbo applications, it's less relative)... I say consider the price, and go from there.

What kind of power are you looking for?

3" pipe can flow enough air for over 1000rwhp

so if your shooting for more then get it

I wonder what the power gains would be like per given PSI and if it would take longer to spool to said psi with the larger pipeing due to the larger volume of air being moved.

I did couldn't decide myself. So i just landed in the middle. I did 3" to the intercooler and 3.5" out to the throttlebody.

I run all 3" but if I put the sheetmetal intake and 90mm tb on the car I will probably go 3.5 from the 'cooler.

eventually id like to go 4"
with my turbo outlet 3" to the intercooler, then have the intercooler 4" out, no MAF to the throttle body.'as of now since i have the MAF for a while, i run 3" from turbo to intercooler, 3" to MAF, then 4" to the TB.
if you can go bigger do it.

I'm having my intercooler outlet changed from a 3" to a 4" outlet since my upper hoses are 4". My lower hoses are 3", but what matters is the transition of slow air in the intercooler to fast air in the oulet and upper pipe. Turbohoses is doing the intercooler work, and they supply pipes and silicon hoses. Hoover is the business owner, he's great to talk to. www.turbohoses.com
