Default valvetrain issue.. please look inside and help if you can

Ok I have 6.0L Lq4 block [stock internals], 5.7L heads [from 99 Fbod., cannot remember casting number off top of head but first digit is 8] milled .060 to reach 11.1:1 compression with dished pistons from LQ4 block. Futral cam 236/243 612/622 @112.
Here is my problem pushrod lenght, after talking to Allen and a couple friends 7.350 Pushrods were recommended, due to P/V Clearance.Still I checked and used a feeler gauge before the engine was back in the car and check the P/V clearance and had .075" clearance, but that was without the lifters pumped up. So I met in the middle and used a 3.775. With those pushrods the car made about 370HP, then we knew it should make a little more so I went with the advice and used the 7.350, made way less power.
Now I am confused so I tried with a Comp 7.400 pushrod and did the wipe test, and came out perfect line across the middle of the valve. Problem I now have is I checked the preload and I got 2 and maybe 1/8th turn, I know this is too much for stock lifters.......what should I do??
