Default Starting to gather items for a Cam Swap what must be changed?

So far I am planning on Cam, Sping kit (Patriot dual), Timing chain and related gaskets. I plan on porting the stock oil pump. Please help me get all parts ready for a winter install.

Pushrods too man!

Don't forget the main seal on the front engine cover. Might wanna change plugs and wires if necessary, and I am assuming you have a LS6 intake and headers already, right? Oh, and you might as well get a pulley as well since the stocker needs to come off anyhow.

And just in case, get a oil pump O-ring from the dealer.....you never know, you might rip the old one when you take the pump out to port it.

For a good list of what you need, just check the cam install guide on www.ls1howto.com

I'm in the same boat. Get a JPR or similar tool for holding the lifters up. If you have the money, think about new rocker arms.

MUST be changed (in my book)

cam
valve springs
pushrods
related gaskets (depends on WHAT you are going to take off)

SHOULD be changed

timing chain (double roller)
LS6 oil pump (DO NOT FORGET THE O-RING!)

"nice" to change

retainers (depending on the valve springs you use, this MIGHT be a REQUIRED swap)
lifters (depending on the number of miles you have)

Go to Home Depot, etc. and buy 1/4" or 5/16" steel or aluminum dowels (~$2 a piece). These work just as well as the JPR tool and are much cheaper.

Same thing I am getting ready to do. I have been looking at the Quicktime cam cover, so next time I change cams I won't have to remove the pulley and steering gear. Considering underdrive pulley and pinning it. I just bought the Crane valve spring tool from Vinci. Still undecided on which cam and springs, maybe TR224 at 112LSA.
