Default Valve train geometry question

I am going to be milling some LS6 heads down a total of .040 and I'm curious what other parts I would need to change in the valve train so I do not collapse a lifter. I have been told that either shimming the rocker arm or changing the push rod length from 7.40 to 7.35 would suffice but I'm curious if the 0.040 compression in the lifter at rest will really affect the life of the lifter or cause any other damage.

I have a MTI C2 (misrepresented but still a C2) 224/224 .576/.576 112 LSA, Trick Flow 7.40" push rods, and Comp 918 springs. Stock rocker arms. Should I change the push rods before I use the new heads or will I be ok with my existing setup?

Thanks in advance.

7.35's....
That cam fits on tock block with unmilled heads with 7.40's
Mill .040 so you need a .040 shorter p-rod with .054 gasket (graphite)
7.40-.040=7.36 so 7.35 it is

Or use a MLS .060 (not too good for quench) but then you can use the 7.40's

Thanks. I did purchase the GM MLS 0.060 head gasket... looks like I'll be going with the 7.40's I already have then.

Thanks again for the info!
