Default M6: which driveshaft for 3.42 gear ratio?

I'm planning a transmission swap (A4 to M6).
Right now I have a steel driveshaft and a 2.73 rear end.
Sooner or later I'll have to change the rear end 'cause this ratio is way too long.

But what about the driveshaft? I was told that the steel one will vibrate a lot, this at least using a 3.73 rear end. Is it the same with the 3.42?
I think some of the 98 M6 were with the steel driveshaft... was it that bad?

Thanks - Stefano

The M6 with 3.42 used an aluminum driveshaft

My M6 has the OE steel driveshaft (my car went through the swap too) and its VERRY noticable after 110.

My M6 with 3.42's has the steel driveshaft. It does not vibrate at high speeds. You can balance a steel driveshaft as well as an aluminum one. It's just that some steel driveshafts got out without being balanced back in the mid 90's.

So you mean that a steel driveshaft can be as good as the aluminum one regarding vibrations?
Is it only a matter of balancing?
