Tell me about the Z06 cam for a trans am...
heyy all, i am looking at the Z06 cam from GM performance parts. i had a few questinos. one is, i was originally considering the hotcam, but if i can make reasonably the same power wiht the z06cam and be stealthy, id much rather do that. i also noticed that the lift on the Z06 cam is .551 whereas the hotcam is .525. now i know that with the hotcam and some good ls6 or 918's springs are never a problem, but would i ever expect to change them with the Z06cam? that is really my only major drawback it appears because if i have to change springs then i would just assume get a custom grind cam suited to my specs, but if i dont have to chagne springs ever then stick with the z06, can someone shed osme light on this? thanks!

I have run 918's on mine for 20K+ or so already with no problems at all.. mine runs well (see sig.)
Most people will tell you that is isn't worth it, but if your looking for a decent power increase with stock driveablity and CHEAP the 02+ LS6 is great. The other stealth cams work well too, but I don't see a need for the extra $300 or so for maybe 10 peak rwhp, if that.
Also, I would get a used one from this site or another, you can usually find them for $100 or so.
Honestly, if your thinking about doing a custom cam for your specs, that would be the best. Thats what i'm doing next.

just so you know, everyone I know that's gone with the Z06 cam (i know there are lots that like it too) have been disappointed with it... guy that's pulling 10.6 now had it in a while back and swapped it for a 224 a week later - just letting you know b4 you spend the $$$... but if stealth is your main concern... I'm with the guy that posted above ^^^^
