Default STS car melts

Just thought I would toss this up here for fun. Guy I know put a STS kit on his 2000 TA w/ meth and I believe he was running 8 PSI. He entered into the local Burnout Contest which is freestyle setup so U can do anything. Anyway here are the pics. I was going to get pics of the piston he melted but he already took the block and piston to the engine shop. He figures a injector to a crap. Not sure on brand, but they were 42 lb. injectors. Also, what hurts, is that the kit was only on for mearly a month and this happened. Sucks cause I wanted a piece of this car BAD. Not sure, but he just added the meth kit a few days before the burnout, and he never did any retuning after the meth kit and turning up the boost. Think it would need a retune after the increase in boost?

Sounds like the tuning melted the motor, not the STS itself. Also burnout contests aren't the best with FI cars due to the heat the introduce in the motor

I thought burnout contests are for pos cars (piece of ****). I wouldn`t run a nice car in a burnout contest deffinately not an FI car.

it was a freestyle type burnout contest. I did it when my car was stock and won. U have 30 seconds to go out make as much smoke as u can with out sitting in one spot. I live in small town, so some of the people wait for this event to come around. It is called Eve of Destruction and there are trailor races, bus races, forward backwards races, all kinds of crazy dumb ****.

I told the guy it was more then likely the tune, but he is ignorant. O well, and to make things funny, he is tossing the motor back together 100% stock. So I know he will be in the same spot in another week or so after it is rebuilt. I tried to help, even offered some cam specs that would compliment that setup and some other cheap mods for some more power, but he feels it is best to leave it.

I went to the Eve of Destruction we had here in MN... I live right by the track that it was held. I almost entered the spectator drags (one lap from a dead stop).. But I felt that my tires were not up to the challenge and did not want to risk smacking the wall.
I went one of the nights but left early. I did not see a burnout contest though.

Sux for your buddy. He should invest a little more money into a forged motor though.

yeah he will end up blowing up the motor again. only then will he say hmmm maybe I should invest in a good set of pistons/rods and maybe larger crank. people like that are crazy and they are asking to be left sitting on the side of the road somewhere b/c he melted another piston. and yeah the tune proly had a huge part in it as well
