Default Is it time to raise the B.S. flag?

Is it possible to attain 484rwhp from JUST the usual bolt ons(full exhaust, air lid), and heads and cam package? Someone told me he has 484rwhp from just all that and I think thats no matter how radical or big the heads may be, but then again I can wrong, thats why I ask.

Edit: I was told that he went with the SLP heads and cam package. I am not 100% sure about this though. And the car is a LS1 Camaro SS, 02 I think.

It's possible, but unlikely. There are some 346's doing over 500rwhp with heads/cam, but they are very radical cams.

edit: after i saw YOUR edit, I'm gonna call BS on that. I haven't seen great numbers from the SLP package, much less 485rwhp. He'd need something like a upper 230's - 240 duration cam with some good heads to make that.

its possible but unlikly
the afr car put down close to 480 with the 224/228 cam if i remember correctly but you would need ALL the bolt ons and fully optimized setup

Youd probably need EVERY SINGLE bolton imaginable right down to low voltage turn signals and high flow windshield washer fluid pump.

But really, youd probably need a perfectly matched intake/exhaust/heads/cam setup with a lot of luck. Or you could probably do a solid roller cam and hit that mark pretty easily.

There are numerous dyno tricks you could pull to make that possible.

Removing the belt, dynoing on the lightest wheels possible, radical timing, etc...

SLP doesn't even estimate that much do they. We all know there numbers are very exagerated as well.

I know that they make some highly "optimistic" claims, but this seems pretty much beyond even that. Like others said, possible but unlikely.

That's exactly what I was saying. It's impossible to acheive that number with an slp package without some power adder. There's no doubt about it.

Yeh, all bolt-ons including a big 100 Nitros shot....

SLP says you get 40 hp with their LTs! Yeh - right...

I knew this guy was big time. I actually raced him, and to make a long story short, I beat him, yet he claims "clutch problems". my ***.

Most dealers/shop hp numbers are BS. When the numbers fall short, there are always excuses. Some just go way overboard with them..

Just a fact of life in the performance business!!

Well that just show's your car must have 509 rwhp instead of the 409 you thought you had
BTW the only way he could make that much power with his set up is to be a full bolt on car + the tornado intake system

No, its not possible IMO, unless you go with a ridiculously huge solid roller cam and everything that goes with it.

I'm assuming thats a 5.7L motor? If its a 6.0L then its possible.

He got the 485hp package from SLP. I remember this package from a long *** time ago. It is no where near the 485 that they claim. I dont think it would even make 400rwhp. I dont even think SLP sells this package anymore.

Just ask him the specs on his cam we can tell you the rest.

This is the link to a 400hp set up from SLP. Max it could make is 330-350rwhp.

At 15% that would mean that it would have to make 415RWHP

If i remember right the specs on that cam are 218/220 112lsa. (I have not seen the specs in a long time so dont hold me to those specs.) But with all bolt on it could make it there in a 6 speed, 3.42 gears, AL drive shaft, and some light weight wheels.
