SBC 350 suffix code etc.
I recently purchased a 350 SBC. It was in a van, but is not stock for that vehicle, as the owner had it installed several years back. I am trying to determine it's origin. On the back of the block where the Trans mounts, there is #3970010 and it has 350 cast there as well. I have the pan off and it is a 4 bolt main. On the block pad below the pass. side head there are two numbers stamped there. one is K0529T4T. The other is T91548632. I understand that the "T4T" is a suffix code, but I can find no reference to this code anywhere and would like to hear from someone that knows of these things. The heads have 333882 cast on them. I know now they are 1.94/1.50 heads with a 76cc chamber. Not a bad engine from what I can tell, but what the heck is up with that suffix code? Anyone? Thanks in advance.

the "010"4-bolt main block is a good one, usually of 75 and earlier casting. I'll check out the rest of the #s tomorrow and see what comes up.

on the K0529T4T listing, I found that stands for:
K - engine plant assembly - McKinnon Industries
05 - Assembly month - May
29 - Assembly day - 29th
T - Motor division - truck (passenger cars would have a "C" in this location)
4T - Suffix code - I can't decode this as I have no truck books
The 3970010 block was used starting in late April or early May of 1969 and was used through 1975. Good casting choice, as I currently have one in my Nova. They are among one of the stronger small blocks GM used.
Hope this helps!
