Which Cam ?
Ok looking to put a cam in my 98 t/a. The current mods i have are pacesetter l/t's, ory pipe, hooker catback. As far as induction i have slp induction, slp lid, smooth bellow. I plan on having the throttle body ported and polished. Currently running stock heads and dont really plan on changing them at this point except for the valve train if required for the new cam. Car is a m6. I dont care what kind of idle it will have as it is a weekend car and tuning can pretty much take care of any problems. I just want the best cam for what mods i have and want everything to match up so i can get the best power with the whole setup. I have looked at the cam guides and all the brands and have still not really come to any decisions. Can anyone help out with what they have maybe ran and give any advice as to what is the best brand and size to run? Thanks for the help guys

Me personally I've never ran a different cam in my car. But I have basically the same mods you have and are getting ready to get a cam so this is what I have learned so far. Thunder Racing 224/224 112 lsa cam is good all around cam. You should dyno somewhere around 360 hp. I have a friend who has this with heads to and he dyno'd 405hp. This is a great cam for everyday driver's. This is proably what I am going to go with. I'm not really intrested in racing. I just want the sound. Just remember the bigger the cam the more air it needs. It's all about getting air in and out. I'm going to let someone else take over now. I'm still real new to the cam game also.

my cam is in the 23x duration and drives like stock, but tuning plays a major role in that. it all depends on what you want to do with the car, how often you go to the track. give tsp a call they will help you out. they havent steered me wrong yet

Give Futral Motorsports a try.. The FM13 has been a damn good cam for alot of people on this board and is great for a daily driver. Thunder and TSP also have alot of good cams. But, I'd still say that the FM13 is like a trend around here just like the TR224 mentioned above used to be except the FM13 makes ALOT more power..

well this is just my weekend car, i dont really plan on taking it to the track. Just going to be a weekend car to go out street racing. I do know that tuning plays a large part and i am running a stock tune, i was waiting on getting all my mods done and then getting the tuning done since i dont have to drive it everyday back and fourth to work. My goal was to reach around 400hp if that is possible running stock heads?

Thunder Racing makes it.

It is pretty drastic though, so you will need atleast 3:73's if you want some off the line power, but you might be able to get away with it for a while on stock gears.
Here are the specs on the latest version:
242/248 - .608/.612 - 110 lsa 3500-6700 RPM Power Band
Yeah, from what I hear you should not have to fly-cut for it to fit...now that might be different if you have milled heads in the future, but will work if you straight swap it. But, get some dual springs for this kind of cam. Comp 921's or Patriot.

I can give you data on 2. I have a TR224 .563/ .563 112 LSA cam. It's the default overall performance cam for people to f'n lazy to research what they want. In my case it was perfect. I dynoed 375HP/363TQ with stock heads, a K&N intake, LT headers, high flow cats, Flowmaster cat-back (which probably robbed me 10hp) and computer tuning. No BS. Torque was over 350lbs from 2000RPM through 5500RPM. That's a$$ kickng torque for the street. HP peaked at 6100 with a 5400RPM crossover of HP and TQ.
Friend has a CheaTR cam from Thunder Racing. With the same mods as I save a FAST intake and 90mm throttle body (and no cats/ Magnaflow cat-back)..... dynoed 401HP. Was quite surprised with that one!
Anyhow, that's a little onfo for you to base a decision on. In the end, you have to decide what you really want.

Yeah, but most people will sacrifice performance for comfort if they are not going to be sitting in traffic 5 days a week in outrageous temperatures.
I know I would!
