Anyone know the place that specializes in rear ends in the LA area. There was one talked about a few months ago that had great prices and a warranty on their work. If I remember correctly that is all that they work on. Of course other suggestions are welcome. Thanks

I'd be careful of these guys, they assembled my Moser 9" when I first got it and left the stickers on the axles and never filled it with fluid (although they charged me for it).

I ended up having the rear re-done at 4 Wheel Specialties when my rear end siezed after about 20 minutes of driving.

They have done countless gears swaps for our 12 bolt rearends. They have also rebuilt a bunch of ten bolts for friends of mine. All of them have worked perfect. They even checked out my moser gear spacing and filled up the fluid for me for free. We assemble our own rearends minus gear adjustment so that is not an issue. 4 Wheel specialities were always aholes everytime I went to fill my nitrous bottle there.

I just talked to a Anthony at Hoopers. He said I couldnt use a 3 series carrier to swap the 2.73 out to the 3.73. He said I would need a 2 series to do it.

While this may be the optimal way of doing this swap a new carrier costs a butt load. Like $400 he stated. He also tried to sell me alot of other crap I didnt need as well.

Would a ring spacer (found one from Mr. gasket) be enough including whatever shims I need, or will I run into problems down the road? Anyone know or got any other shops that I can try?

the problem is you will snap the bolts off the ring gear with a spacer, with the power you are making.

I pretty much figured as much. I just cant see spending near $800 to switch out some gears. I guess Im going to price some extra thick ring gears. It probably wont be as good as switching out the carrier, but it should be better than using the spacer.
