Default what to get before running the 1/4

im taking my car to the dragstip next month. i was thinking about getting something small to help out alittle bit. i was thinking lower control arms to help out with my 60' times. i already have BMR subframes and a few bolt ons. what do you guys think. i was only wanting to spend maybe $100 or $130. im just hoping to hit mid to low 13's. a buddy of mine says that ls1's will run mid to low 14's all day long, he spends time at the strips around here and he hardly ever sees the fbods in the 13's, but everyone on here says that ls1's will run high to mid 13's bone stock. so i dont know.

oh btw, i already have stickier tires in the back so i dont need to worry about that, what kind of 60' times should i hope for??

There are LS1s in the 12s bone stock.

You want to get your 60' as far below 2.0 as possible.

you should be running low 13's w/ a few bolt ons, and a stock gear w/ a drag radial. if you have a gear you should be in the 12's.

is your car 6spd or a4??? 6spds usually go a little quicker/faster relative to a mostly stock a4 car.

Where are you? are you at high elevation? A4 or M6?

I would think LCA's would be a good mod but wont see the full benefit until you start adding more horsepower, maybe look into a FTRA or SSRA.

You should cetainly be in the low to mid 13's. Look at my sig. with not as many bolt ons and stock tires I ran a 13.40 my first time out. With some practice I am confident I will see 13.0-13.1's on stock tires. Drag radials will put me into the 12's.

A torque are seems to be a good thing to add in addition to the LCA to help gain traction. You should do fine, I managed a 2.1 sixty foot with stock suspension on my car my first time to the strip.

PS where in central Illlinois are you? I am in Morton.

A LS1 F-body is capable of high 12's to mid 13's stock. Yet the majority of them run mid 13's to low 14's stock. Simply because it is dependent on the driver. The cars that you will see running low 14's are trapping a decent MPH, such as 104MPH or what not. 104 MPH is a solid 13 second run as a long as the driver can get it there.

To answer your question though, I wouldn't do anything to the car. It seems as if you have not been to the track with this car yet. Take it to the track as it is now and get a baseline. Then start modding to hell and then run it again to see what you gained.

Since you have an A4 you should be able to cut a 2.0 60' all day long. If i were you i'd spend $40 and get a cutout welded into the I pipe before the axle and open that up at the track. My lid/cutout 2002 WS6 ran 13.3's consistantly with 2.0x 60's on the stock F1's (which aren't known for hooking). Once you're staged push the brake and hold the RPM's around 900 to preload the rear. On the third yellow quickly roll into the gas, this should net you the 2.0 60' you are looking for, if the car is hooking well then roll into the gas harder, with some practice you should be able to get that 60' below a 2.0. A4's rock for drag racing.

your friend says ls1`s run 14s all day?? must be hanging with people that dont know how to drive. id say most ls1`s ive seen are all mid to low 13s stock. seen a few run high 12s stock with drs. i just bought my 01 ss m6 4 months ago,ran a 12.98 at 108. only mod was fipk, spohn torque arm and drs. added 4.10 gears,,cold air intake, upped rev limiter, and ran a 12.61@110.81. the power is there,, just a matter of the driver gettin it to the ground. goodluck with your runs,, you should have no problem hit low 13s in my opinion. let us know how u do

I ran a 13.49 @ 105 on stock tires and 2.73 gears with the cutout open. I'm confident that with gears (3.73's) headers (with td's) and tires the car can cut high 12's.
