Default ARP Studs - 12pt vs 6pt?

Are there any differences between these two kits outside the number of points on them?

No, but I would definitely go 12 points.

Why? I am using the 6s. Seems like the 12s would be easier to round off.

I understand that a 12pt on a 12pt bolt would actully have better contact, but we're talking about 80?ft lb here, not 380. I'm going to get the 6pt, save $20, and not have to buy 12pt sockets.

Thanks for noting they're the same.

12pt nuts are smaller (ex) on the older small block chevy the large diameter valve springs would not allow a six point nut to be used on some of the inner the head stud.

I simply like the 12 points because they offer more contact area and hold the socket better. Its all personal preference. After building motors with 6 and 12's, I'll like the 12pt more.

EastCoast Supercharges told me to get the 12 pt and I trust them.

I think I'd consider if they were the same price, but worrying about contact area on an 80ft lb item seems like extreme overkill.

The old SBC comment definitely makes sense. I was kind wondering why they bothered (and charged more) in the first place.

It's all about contact area on your tool and also clearance of the fastner you'd really appreciate them installing an intake on an old SBC. But at the same time the tourqe we're talkin about here it's a little overkill but in general they are the way to go.
