I'm starting to do research for building a 68 Camaro. My goal is 600 RWHP. I really like the looks of the magnachargers. What's it going to take to get me there with the magnacharger (cam, computer stuff, maf vs map, displacement, compression)? I'll be using an LS1 & T56.
I have a few ideas, but would like to hear your knowledge/experience before I put mine out (to get unbiased opinions)
Thanks

from what i have read, most roots chargers arent good for more then 500 rwhp because it lacks the ability to make enough boost, but it will create gobbs of tq down low.
If you want more then 500-550 rwhp and supercharge it, id say go with a centrifugal one like vortech or ATI head units.
I could be wrong, but I havent read up on anything making more then that amount of power(except for the Y bodies, KB)

The physical size of the Magnacharger makes it impossible to reach 600 rwhp. I had one of the highest dynoing Magna combos, basically a heads/cam/blower setup and it put down 505 rwhp. The highest I've seen is 525 rwhp.
They just don't move enough air to push past 500 rwhp very easily.

look into a Twin Screw type blower that should do it
A centrifugal wont have the low end of a Roots or a Twin Screw

Thanks, I guess that answers the question about the magnacharger
who makes a twin screw type blower for an LS1?

Kennebelle is rumored to be making an ls1 set up for the vettes. That might be worth while. You could also look into the whipple superchargers.

twin screw all the way derek. the roots/eaton wont cut it. in a blower look for the cfm rating of the blower. the blower i put on my LT1 camaro is a 1600 cfm blower. it makes big power.
