ls1 or ls6 in 02? 1.One of my co-workers said he used to work in the Performance Division in GM. He said a few of the 01's and all of the 02' f-body's came with an ls6 engine even though gm still said it was an ls1.... one of my friends said this was wrong ???
2. also... i heard the ls1 was underrated and the ls6 was overrated... does anyone know the power figures for these engines first hand....

Most LS1 F bodys and Vettes dyno around 300 at the rear wheels. Figure 15% drivetrain loss approx.
I know some cars came with an LS6 "block" which wasn't a real big deal. The performance difference between the engines was the heads & cam

LS6 block yep.
But it didn't really do much for power.
Not a true LS6 because it would still have the LS1 heads and cam. The LS6 still had about 55 more hp.
