Question Realistic Expectations for this set-up?

What can expect in terms of RWHP for this set-up:
99 LS1 A4 3.43 gears stock to:

Patriot Stage II "LS6" heads
Cam: 224/224 112
LT headers (QTP)
Cat back
LS6 intake or FAST w/90mm TB

2nd Choice: Way more $$$$
402ci Stroked LS2
AFR Heads
230/234 116 cam
headers
Fast intake, etc

realistic expectations would be not to set your rev limiter past 6500 imo

97-99s have bad oil return and they like to spin bearings

also, from what i hear guys with the 224 cam wish they would have went bigger... of course unless this is your daily

even for a daily a 224 is way too small. go big or go home, g5x2 112 stock a4 stall, stock 2.73 gears, driven 20 miles a day rain or shine.

A 224 is the perfect daily driver cam. It's big enough to make some serious power on stock head (anyone who thinks 380+ rwhp/rwtq isn't serious without compromise is retarded and needs their head checked out), yet small enough to have good street manners and pass emissions if necessary.

The 346 you mentioned would probably make over 400 rwhp through an auto. The 402 you suggested is waaaaaaaaayy under-cammed and would have a ton of low end torque, but probably wouldn't make over 450 rwhp.

Thumbs up

Thanks for all the great info. Yes, this will continue to be my daily driver. I just want the car to have a bit more "umph". I barely won a race with an Acura coupe the other day and don't want to repeat that again!

Future plans will be a higher stall torque converter, I'll probably need to upgrade the rear-end and I'm still trying to figure which route to go in terms of engine build-up...do I do the total head/cam/intake deal on the original LS1 or do I save (and save) for a stroked LS2 crate motor? Do I do it piecemeal, i.e., headers, cam and springs, LS6 intake, stage II heads?

In answer to your question, on that first set up I would guess around 450 rwhp. Maybe a bit higher with that fast 90

Patriot heads are not going to make 450 rwhp with a cam as docile as a 224, especially through an A4.
