Default Anyone broke 918's with F-13 or similar cam?

I'm considering a F-13 with my relatively new (2000 mile) bluestripe 918's and searched to find someone who has actually broken a bluestripe 918 with a F-13 or similar cam. Couldn't find even one. Plenty of people saying duals for peace of mind in case you break one, but if nobody has broken one then that's all the peace of mind I need.

If anyone has broken one with this cam, or any cam, please post up.

Allan recommended a F-13 112+2 to keep shift points ~6500. I'm still using stock retainers. Will the weight of the stock retainers cause valve float at 6500?

how much are the 918's and new tit. retainers? a dual spring kit will run about 270-290 for everything you need. thats another reason why we go with the duals. the lift isnt too extreme for the comps, so its all a matter of preference.

Perhaps your question should be how many miles can I go before having to change my 918s with a cam like the F13?
If you are prepared to swap springs at regular intervals you can get away with 918s. If you like to get the last mile out of a set of springs get dual springs.

Titanium 918 size retainer is 7 gr and stock is 11 so only a difference of 4 gr. that is not going to make or brake your valvefloat if you get one.
Coilbind for the 918's unshimmed is good for .615 lifts.
I say from experience they are good to go.

Just make sure your lifter preload is on the ball.

I want to do a quick cam swap. Since I already have perfectly good 918's and hardened 7.4 pushrods, I searched to see if others were using these springs with F-13 cams. I found plenty that were using them on F-13's and even more aggressive XER lobe cams with bigger lifts, so I knew it could be done. But I kept seeing the "peace of mind" posts about dual springs. Well if I can't find anyone who has broken a 918, how much more peace of mind do you need?
So it's not a cost of single vs dual issue. My car is a 98 and has 10,000 miles on it, so how long they'll last isn't an issue either since I obviously don't drive it much. My only issue is peace of mind that I'm not going to wipe out a motor because of a broken spring and if I can't find anyone who's broken a 918, I will have that peace of mind.

Predator Z.... I assume the .615 figure is with .100 clearance from coil bind. Will preload with a F-13 be OK with 7.4 PR's and untouched stock heads?

Coil Bind 1.085" at .100

I ran an FM-11 with 918s & ti retainers on my 99 and they worked fine. My cousin now has the car and beats the hell out of it and they are holding up great still.

Thanks for the encouraging words Sanders. The more people I talk to, the more comfortable I'm getting with the F-13, 918 Combo.

918's are a good spring for that cam and are capable of running bigger cams then that
